35 Weeks!

Well - today marks the end of my 35th week. 

I am officially 36 weeks! Only 4 weeks left - whoa!

Baby Girl is almost 6 pounds and 18 1/2 inches long.  She is spending the last few weeks fattening up - which is great.  Baby fat is so adorable!

We are getting very close to being completely ready.  Just need to pick up a few things at Target (which in all honesty could probably wait).  I am waiting for the 10% off coupon that they send you a month before your due date for registering with them! So hopefully I get that soon so I can SHOP!

On the to-do list yet is to set up the stroller/car seat (and make sure the car seat is correctly installed in our cars), taking all the other stuff out of the boxes (Pack and Play, Rock and Play), shopping of course and packing the hospital bag.  I am sure there is more that I am not thinking about.

All I can think about is holding my baby girl! We can't wait to meet her!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Awkward:
* How much I am over being at work....come on baby! I know I still have 4 weeks left but it is really hard to concentrate when I can only sit in one position for about 5 minutes before having to switch b/c of this awesome back pain.
* Bringing my pillow to work (to help with my back).  It probably looked a little weird walking across the parking lot with a pillow tucked under my arm! But hey - if I need to take a nap I will be prepared!
* Boo... swollen fingers.
* How excited I am to go on maternity leave ---- it will be a much needed vacation from work!

Awesome:
* Getting all the baby clothes washed and put away! AND getting the closet organized!
* How cute baby headbands are.... I could just keep on making them - even after I have plenty!
* Watermelon....enough said!
* The Olympics --- DURING my maternity leave! Dan is so jealous!
* Having less than 30 days until we meet our beautiful baby girl!

Fabric Tutu with Matching Onsie & Headband

I made a cute little outfit for Baby Girl! 

This was inspired by Mommy's Little Sunshine - she has the best tutorials!

One the onsie I used a light heat and bond and stitched around the bird.

The Tutu is a fabric tutu which will be much more comfortable for baby as opposed to the standard tulle tutu.

The headband is a fabric rolled flowers which I added to a headband.  It will be a very cute outfit once she fits! 

I plan to make baby's coming home outfit soon as well - I just picked up some newborn onsies so I can get started! I will post pictures when I am finished! 

Organized Closet Awesomeness!

My (other) big accomplishment this weekend was getting baby girls closet organized! 

I still have a ways to go as I want to pick up some fabric boxes to put burp clothes, bibs, etc in.

Check out our diaper supply! It looks like a lot but I know we will start going through those like nothing!

I also got all the clothes that we have washed, folded and put away in her dresser!

5 Weeks left - she will be here before we know it!

Baby Girl Headbands

Had some time to myself this weekend... so the logical thing to do is make Baby Headbands! 

I have had all the stuff to make them - I just couldn't find the time to sit down and create!

So here they are!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Awkward:
* Trying to get to the microwave at work and totally hitting one of the girls I work with in the head with the belly.  I can't even control it anymore - I run into EVERYTHING!
* The pouring rain yesterday.  And I mean POURING.  Enter pregnant me trying to run to my car after work as to not get too wet.  Well, that didn't happen.  I was soaked.  And I am sure I looked pretty graceful running like a crazy woman through the parking lot.  You would think that umbrella I bought years ago would make it to work with me on days like that.  Nope, in my closet it sits!
* This one is more awkward for the lady on the tv for the EAS tornado warning that popped up.  She started talking about what the warning was like usually and she messed up a bit then said "Oh Crap!" and started laughing.  No more words were said after that so we didn't fully get the message but I laughed for quite some time after that!
* How swollen my fingers are - it hurts to bend them.  Forget about writing things down - that is difficult!

Awesome:
* FINALLY going grocery shopping after not having food in the house forever.  Seriously - I felt like I was going to die if I didn't eat fruit within the next day.  It was bad.  AND we were out of cereal - that is my go-to meal!
* Having a weekend to myself! I am so excited.  Plans are to go garage sale-ing, make baby girl some headbands (I will post!), re-arranging babies closet so we can fit all the boxes of diapers that I keep ordering in there, relaxing on the deck with some lemonade - life is good!
* Being even closer to meeting our baby girl! 35 Weeks - only 5 left!

Mondays....

Monday, Monday, Monday.

Monday's are so hard to be happy about after a work-free weekend.  Especially after a long weekend of fishing, boating, playing cards, enjoying the sunshine, being outside pretty much all day long and having an awesome time!

Ugh, I wish I could live on a lake and not have to work --- THAT would be the life!

Better go buy a lottery ticket so I can do that.

Heavy Heart

Today I am praying hard for my Grandpa and Grandma.

Yesterday morning my grandpa had a heart attack and was full of pneumonia.  This all happened after they discovered that he had a bowel obstruction so he went in for surgery on that.  This caused his body (kidney) to stop working as it had so he needed to start dialysis but they didn't think his body could handle it. Overall - he has been through a lot in the past two weeks.  They were originally going to stop all treatments and put him in hospice after the heart attack but now they are continuing treatment but he would still be on DNR (do not resuscitate). They aren't sure what will happen next.

I am extremely lucky to have all my Grandparents still.  It is such a treasure.  My husband has none left so I am grateful.  It is hard when they get sick.  Who I worry most about is my Grandmother.  I pray she is strong enough to be there for him and that she has enough support.

33 Weeks!

Baby is the size of a Pineapple this week (4 Pounds)!
Holy Cow.
Less than 50 days to go!

We just had our baby showers and everything is put away....but now I feel like I am in freak out mode trying to get everything else taken care of.   I have a list of things that still need to be purchased and I want to hit some garage sales to see if I can find some things for a lot cheaper then buying them new.  I feel like I am running out of time.

As for pain - I am still in it :(
My back pain is still as strong as ever - sitting all day doesn't help at all! My ankles/feet and hands seem to swell pretty much every day now.  I haven't worn my wedding ring for 2 weeks! And the other night I woke myself up from moaning.  Whichever side I try to sleep on - that hip just aches when I am sleeping - maybe it is my hips widening for birth, who knows.  One night it was so bad I just gave up and slept on my back.

Plus side - we get to meet our daughter in just a few short weeks! Nothing will be better than that :)

Baby Shower Recap

My baby showers were seriously AWESOME! I have the best friends and co-workers!

Baby Girl is never going to go naked because she doesn't have anything to wear - and baby girl clothes are just too cute!

We had awesome food and games at both - it was just a fantastic weekend.

I didn't get any photos from the first baby shower so here are some photos from the second!

Monster Cookie Dough Dip

Had my second baby shower this weekend and all I can say is WOW - we have one loved baby!
She hit the jackpot on awesome baby stuff and she will definitely be the best dressed baby on the block!

For the shower my hosts had pretty much everything covered but I saw this recipe on Pinterest (from The Girl Who Ate Everything) and I just HAD to try it.

Monster Cookie Dough Dip

Seriously it was AWESOME! I had graham crackers and animal crackers that I served with it.  I think we went through half of a huge bear container (from Target) of animal crackers and I have given the recipe out multiple times now.  It is the best - and since I used fat free cream cheese totally healthy! (Yeah right!)

Happy Friday

Last night I had my first baby shower (which was fantastic!) Baby Girl hit the jackpot! I am not sure where we are going to put it all! No pictures from the shower though which is kind of a bummer but I will document it somehow for her!

This weekend comes baby shower #2! Then up to the cabin for some relaxing time.  Which is MUCH NEEDED after the past two weeks (and upcoming week).  Hopefully things start to slow down a little especially before baby comes! Slowly but surely we are getting more ready for her - hubby keeps saying "I wish she were here now!"

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Awkward...
* How weird my ankles look after sitting all day in the heat...YUCK!
It is also kind of painful! That can go away soon....
* How noticeable my baby belly now is.  And how many people stare at it....
* Walking into HyVee and a guy randomly coming up to me saying that he has a boy that just turned 12 years old.  This would be fine but I didn't realize he was talking to me - so it took me a while to answer back.... it was his boys birthday that day - then he congratulated me....a little awkward for sure!

Awesome!
* Getting an awesome baby gift basket from my Exchange Club group! Seriously - they are so awesome!
* First baby shower tonight and second baby shower on Saturday - what a great weekend!
* My weeks finally slowing down a bit - I have been bogged down with meetings, appointments, baby showers (!), etc.  I was running around with my head cut off - which will all be ending soon! Thank goodness!
* Dreaming about what we would purchase if we ever won the lottery....that always makes me happy :)

Lake Weekend...Update

I haven't had time to get any of the pictures I took this weekend downloaded on my computer so those will come later!

As for my experiment..... it seems they like the sour gummys better!

I tried using the regular kind (which were really thick) when we were out on the lake fishing but as soon as they hit the water they got hard as a rock.  I didn't even get a nibble on those.  So the next morning Dan and I went out to the dock and I put a sour gummy chunk on the end of my line.  I could see through the water and the fish were trying to eat it but the piece was just too big - they couldn't get the hook in their mouth.  So I made it MUCH smaller and dropped it in and caught a Rock Bass!

I wouldn't say that this is a great way to catch fish because it definitely wasn't - I caught way more on a regular old night crawler then the gummy worms.  But it was fun to try and the gummys were fun to eat!

So there you have it! Sour gummys beat out the regular gummys (but not by much!)

Lake Weekend!

So excited for a weekend up North! Here comes a weekend of fishing, boating, swimming (if it is warm enough) and good old fashioned card games!

I am trying something new this weekend (fishing wise). I am bound and determined to catch a fish with a gummy worm as my bait.  I keep telling my husband that I am going to catch something BIG! He doesn't believe me but I always catch the biggest fish out of the two of us. 

Bring on the gummy worms! I'm going to catch me something big!

 I also have a pretty scientific experiment that I will conduct over the weekend.

Do fish like regular gummy worms better or sour gummy worms.
