Throwback Thursday

This nice photo comes to you from the almighty internet, and is a result of googling my name (come on, you know you've done it!)

This was from the 2003 AA South Dakota State Track Meet - Pole Vault winners.

I got 6th Place - it was my Senior Year in High School. I remember I was super bummed because the three girls who placed ahead of me all got the same height as I did, but they ended up with more points/less misses.

I loved Pole Vaulting - so much fun!

Our Pet Turtle...

Olivia got a pull behind turtle thing for her birthday...and she loves taking it for walks!

It may be the closest thing we have for a pet for a long time! (until she talks her daddy into getting her a puppy!)

This moment...

is one I want to remember forever...

Nothing spectacular happened, just my baby and I running around and exploring our yard.

Me chasing her, her chasing me... playing with the long grass from the lot next door....grabbing and dancing under the leaves from our tree our front....trying to keep her from eating the rocks from around our house, then walking in the rocks all the way around the house.

Just us two.  Enjoying the moment.  Love.

Pumpkin Patch Awesomeness...

Last October our pumpkins got smashed (and not in the fun way either!)  A month or so ago we noticed that we had a vine growing right next to our house with our hostas.

We thought, hey maybe some of those pumpkin seeds planted themselves... so we decided to let it grow, just to see what it brings.

Sunday morning I walk outside to see quite a few yellow flowers...we may have a few tiny pumpkins by October!

I guess that is truly makes the best out of a previously bad situation!  We shall see!

Sweet Summertime...

There is nothing better then a trip to the pool on a hot summer day.  When I was growing up my hometown did not have an outdoor pool - only an indoor lap pool which wasn't the most fun.  I remember going on trips to some area water parks and it was the best!

My husband grew up with a pool just down the road and has so many good memories of summers spent at that pool with his friends.

Now, we get to introduce our sweet girl to the pool....and she loved it!  We will be going back often!

She is definitely a water baby! After spending an hour at the pool we came home and spent some time in the bath.  The only thing she doesn't like is when I rinse off the shampoo...but she liked when the water fell on her head at the pool.

She's not the cleanest eater folks!

I am home with Olivia today - turns out she has an infection in her eye.  I got to experience putting eye drops in for the first time.  Aren't those just a treat! Don't worry though, I get to practice every three hours! Get better little girl!

Thought I would post some fun pictures of Olivia enjoying her dinner from a couple days ago...

She is such a good and happy eater!

Lake Weekend...

I love our lake weekends.  Makes me want to live on a lake so very badly.... one day it will happen - just you wait!

My favorite parts about being in Northern Minnesota...
* The gorgeous lakes and trees.
* The fishing! So fun to always catch fish.
* The peaceful-ness (is that a word?).
* How relaxing it is yet the days last so long because we are always doing something.
* Being on the boating and enjoying water sports.
* And last but not least, playing cards with friends! There is just something about it....

 We love paddle boarding!
Hanging out with the babies... They don't look too impressed though!
Olivia loved playing in the lake!

Getting ready to go fishing.

I grew up in South Dakota but can officially say I LOVE Minnesota! (It only took me 10 years to say it!)

My troublemaker....

Let me set the scene....

The husband and I are both hanging out in kitchen; he's making dinner (like always) and I am putting dishes away.

Baby is playing her drum set innocently in the living room.

She gets tired of playing beat the drum stick on the drum (and occasionally on her head).  She wanders into the kitchen to see what we are doing.  She loves being anywhere we are.  Including the bathroom....but that's another story.

As I am re-arranging our pots and pans drawer so everything will fit and Dan has turned his back to put something in the fridge, Olivia decides she wants to climb up the stove.

She reaches up her little arms and grabs the stove handle with both hands.  Pulls up and puts both feet on the front of the door.  Of course the oven door opens and she goes down with it.

She held on the entire time and landed on our very padded mat (thank goodness!)  It was seriously like watching in slow motion but I was holding two pans and didn't want to rush over and injure her with those.

She got a little upset - but it was more me yelling, "No, No, No, No!" Although she did bump her forehead on the handle.  She came away unscathed!

The drawers in our kitchen are all baby-proofed - I guess I will have to start researching how to baby proof an oven... yikes! She is going to be a trouble maker! Any tips??

My little schiester playing in her chair!

Birthday Cupcakes

I forgot to post pictures of the cupcakes I made for Olivia's birthday!

For her birthday party we went with a Cookie Monster theme.  I wanted it to be more girly so I added pink as an accent color. I found my inspiration on Pinterest (of course!) and they turned out so good!

I may have gone a little overboard with deserts - we also had chocolate chip cookies, the cupcakes, and a large sheet cake! Good thing my family has a sweet tooth - everything was gone!

5 things you need to know about me...

1. I could live in sweatpants! After I get off work I immediatly change into sweatpants or yoga pants and a tank. Makes me wish I had a job where I could wear that to work!

2. Fall is my favorite season ever! I love the cool fresh air, the sweaters and scarves, the decor, the Pumpkin Spice Latte's (yum!), fishing at sunset in jeans and a sweater... I could go on and on.  I just love it!

3. I have had knee surgery on both my knees (ACL Reconstruction - both in High School).  I have a lot of issues becuase of it... I can feel when a storm is coming, my knees get super sore after a regular workout, they swell randomly. But on the upside, I will probably have one of those Rascal Scooters when I get a little older - Score!

4. I feel like I am stuck in my job.  I work for a small company and am the only one in my department so there is no movement or advancement what-so-ever.  I like what I do but am looking for a change and just haven't been able to find it.  I just want to LOVE my job-is that a lot to ask?

5. I love going to baseball games with my husband! The game, the food, the company - it's all great.  Though I am definitely not a super fan - my husband had to explain to me what being a 500 ball club meant last night...

Busy busy busy....

Oh man! Last week was so incredibly busy - we were doing something every single night!

We had a work picnic, Olivia's 12 month check up and her 12 month photos, then a weekend at the lake.

Check up went great - super healthy, doing very well, super tall (95 percentile)! So doing great up until the shots... she doesn't like being held down and we needed to do that for the shots (too squirmy).  So she was upset to begin with.  Then came the shots.  Three of them.  Poor girl - I felt like crying for her!  After a few minutes she got over it and was smiling and laughing again.

Her 12 month photos went ok...Olivia is cutting her top teeth and of course was very fussy the day of the photos.  Add in that we drive 45 minutes to take the photos and she is a wreck and doesn't want to leave my side.   Our photographer {Christy Bode Photography} posted a sneak on Facebook and it turns out she got some good ones! Can't wait to see the others!

Birthday Party Fun!

We started the day happy and excited for our birthday!
We even got to open some presents from Grandma and Grandpa before the rest of the guests arrived.
Of course she needed to stand on it first!
We got a little overwhelmed by all the people and took a nap during lunch.  After we woke up - snack time!

Olivia going after the cake! (Not really - I had to smash her hand into it!)

Didn't care for the cake but loved the frosting!
After a quick bath - present time! Trying to stand on it again...
While her cousins helped her open her presents, she was more interested in a leaf!
It was a great day! The weather was perfect, we couldn't have asked for anything better for her 1st birthday party (although her dad will tell you that next year we are getting a bouncy house that is big enough for adults!)
